Cherrydale is a popular neighborhood in Arlington, Virginia, with a population of 2,697. It is known as one of the very best places for living in the state of Virginia. It is ranked number 10 of 47 among the Best Neighborhoods to Live in Arlington. One of the community's oldest non-residential structures is the Cherrydale Volunteer Fire House. It was built in 1919 to serve as the Cherrydale Volunteer Fire Department's home.
Cherrydale - Arlington is known for being an in-demand neighborhood that dates back to 1893, when it got its name from the many cherry orchards that used to dominate the landscape. Although a number of the residents have been living in the area for as many as 60 years or more, there are also newcomers moving in these days. The town is located half a mile north of the Ballston Metro Station and Virginia Square on the orange and silver lines. It offers various types of residences that range from bungalows to farmhouses, and Sears and Montgomery Ward kit homes that have five or more bedrooms. Many of them date back to 1900 through 1930; however, some of the older homes have been torn down and replaced with larger homes, including some that have been built this year.
