Evans Farm Homes for Sale - McLean, VA

Evans Farm is a well-established McLean, VA, gated community dating back to 2002. Construction was completed in 2005 on its 143 homes located between Chain Bridge Road and Dolley Madison (Route 123). Of those homes, 44 are single-family homes, 68 are townhomes, 13 are condominiums, and 18 are designated as "affordable." Those "affordable" homes have been gifted to neighboring Lewinsville Retirement Residences, thereby giving them expansion capability for their residents.

Historic Evans Farm

Evans Farm is an upscale community that was developed on 25 acres of prime land that was once a historic working farm. Numerous artifacts from that era have been preserved, serving as a fitting tribute to its former days, including some farming machinery and the Old Mill House. The area also retains mature trees plus plenty of thoughtful landscaping and several pocket parks. In the 1940s, Bayard Evans bought the land when it was still being utilized as farmland. That was ten years before Route 123. Prior to that, the farm was shortly owned by the Walton family. For hundreds of years before the Waltons, it was the Besley family farm. In fact, many of the neighborhood’s mature trees were probably owned centuries ago by the Besleys.

Later Renovations & Uses

Later, Evans Farm became the home of Evans Farm Inn and included a family-owned and -operated restaurant, petting zoo, and gift shop. In addition, there was a popular local bar called the Sitting Duck Pub. When the farm was sold and turned into residential properties, one of the families purchased and later donated an amazing life-size bronze statue of a deer that is still standing to this day at the Evans Farm entrance, in what is now Mill Pond Park. Both the original Stonehouse and Millhouse underwent renovations recently and are remaining fixtures along with Evans Farm pond, serving as symbols of the community's past.
