Choosing a Mortgage Lender – Not Meeting Contractual Deadlines Can Cost You Your Home
If your lender doesn’t meet the financing deadlines in your contract, the seller can simply cancel the contract and pursue another interested buyer. In the case of my wife’s and my first home, our lender almost caused our settlement to be delayed and was several weeks late on their financing deadline. If the seller had wanted to move on, we could have lost the home because of these missed deadlines and my wife and I thought we were going to have a heart attack because of it. Over the past several years, I’ve seen my clients in similar situations – stressed out because of their lender. Buying a home is stressful enough without a lender adding more stress.
