This is the fourth article in my blog series on real estate fixer upper investing tips. So far, we’ve covered Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.

Real Estate Fixer Upper Investing – How to Get Started

When you buy a property, it’s completely free to work with your buyer agent, as the seller always pays the listing agent’s and buyer agent’s commission. As I mentioned in Part 3 of this blog series, on the listing side, I give a big discount to investor clients when they sell their properties through me. Email me at DarrenRobertsonHomes@gmail.com to find out more about this discount.

My wife and I have a lot of experience buying homes, fixing them up, and selling them for profit. We are actually selling a real estate fixer upper right now, though actually we intended to live in it longer than a year when we bought it, to make the best return. Then we found a home in Falls Church City we really loved (not a fixer), so we have recently listed our townhome for sale.

If I were personally in the market for another real estate fixer upper right now, I’d probably buy a duplex in Arlington or Alexandria. There is a very high demand for duplexes in Arlington under or right around $400,000, and if they’re nicely upgraded, they often sell in bidding wars. In fact, I just helped a client win a duplex in a bidding war a couple weeks ago.
