Home Renovation Costs – Should You Just Update Your Bathrooms or Completely Gut Them?
It’s always difficult to know how much work to do in a bathroom, since ideally it’s nice to have new tile installed in the showers and above bathtubs. However, you can make a bathroom sparkle by simply putting in new tile, a new vanity, new light fixtures, towel fixtures, and freshly painting the room. New shower inserts or simply freshening up or re-glazing told tile can often do wonders for making a bathroom have a more remodeled look, and not upgrading the actual tub area can save a lot on hour home renovation costs.
Other Ways We Saved Money
Our handyman had contacts who charged very reasonable rates on hardwood and tile installation. We paid those workers to install hardwood and tile on the main floor and upper floor, and then we used a weekend to lay the hardwood in the basement ourselves.
We used a website called www.Thumbtack.com to find a great worker to do the backsplash in our kitchen for around $350. Basically, this website lets you post a job that you need done, and then workers can “bid” on your project, notifying you how much they would charge do it.
