The Women in Military Service for America Memorial, dedicated in October 1997, sits at the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery and honors all servicewomen – past, present, and future. Inside the hemicycle-shaped memorial, there are a number of exhibits highlighting the roles women have played throughout the history of the military, as well as a Hall of Honor which recognizes women who were held as prisoners of war, died in service, or were past recipients of awards for their courage and/ or service.
