DIY home renovations to help you top dollar for your Northern Virginia home

This is the second post in my blog series on DIY home renovations that can help increase the value of your home in Northern Virginia without breaking your bank. So far, we’ve covered Part 1.

Bathrooms Are an Important Part of Any List of Top DIY home renovations

Old, outdated bathrooms can be an immediate turn-off to Northern Virginia homebuyers, unless they’re already counting on buying a home that needs some work. HGTV is telling that truth that some buyers think a room that’s painted an ugly color means that a home requires “too much work”, so how to do think many buyers will react to a bathroom that’s stuck in the 1970s?

Overall bathrooms are second on the list of important rooms that you should focus on updating during your DIY home renovations. Thankfully, there are relatively simple things like adding a new pedestal sink that can make a big difference in the look of a bathroom. You can also:

  • Re-grout tiles and replace chipped ones
  • Replace your old tile with tiles of a neutral color; your local home improvement store may offer classes that teach you how to do this.
  • Add a spa-style chrome shower head
  • Paint or stain your existing vanity, and change the door hardware
  • Replace the sink faucet
  • Give it a fresh coat of paint
