Strategies for Selling and Buying a Home in Northern Virginia

When selling and buying a home with a home sale contingency, the ideal scenario is to have your home listed before making an offer on another property. If your home is already listed at a realistic price, a seller will be more likely to accept your offer on their property, since this increases the chance that your home will have a successful sale. Home sale contingencies are common, but sellers are careful when they accept them, since this type of contingency is one more thing that has to happen before a sale can be successfully completed.

After you speak with a lender to determine what type of loan would be best for your situation, it would be good to schedule an appointment with your real estate agent to go over your options. Even if you’re not ready to list your home for many weeks, it can be good to start seeing properties to get a feel for what’s out there in your favorite areas. After you list your home, everything typically starts happening pretty quickly, so it’s best to have narrowed down some target areas before reaching this step in your home selling and home buying journey.
