This is the third post in a 3-part blog series on selling a home as is in Northern Virginia. So far, we’ve covered Part 1 and Part 2.
If a property is in overall good shape and perhaps just outdated and in need of some minor deferred maintenance, selling a home As Is isn’t necessarily a good idea. You might be able to put more money in your pocket by fixing certain things and getting a higher sales price for the property.
If, however, your home is in need of a lot of work, selling a home as is can be a good way of avoiding a headache. It will also help you attract the right types of buyers who will be willing to take on the work that your property requires.
As I sum up this blog series, it’s worth mentioning that as you make your final decisions on selling a home As Is, it’s always a good idea to mentally put yourself in the shoes of buyers who will be touring your property. The reason is that Northern Virginia homebuyers are some of the savviest buyers in the nation, so thinking about your situation in this way is great for considering your marketing and negotiation strategies. As buyers tour your property, will they be overwhelmed by how much work is needed? Or will they think that the property just needs a few upgrades? Ultimately, this kind of critical thinking will help you decide if As-Is marketing is the right choice.
