Adding Outdoor Space - Definitely on The List of Best Home Improvements
Today, outdoor living space is desirable to many homebuyers in Northern Virginia. According to HGTV, you can expect to recoup a good part of your investment by adding a deck. Opt for a composite deck, like Trex decking, if possible, because they require less maintenance, are better able to withstand the elements, and have a higher resale value than wooden decks. If you already have a deck, or adding one is not in your budget, do what you can to liven up your outdoor space by adding a few welcoming touches such as a bench and some inexpensive flowers or shrubs.
Basement Remodel
Refinishing your basement into a usable space with versatility appeals to potential buyers. Even partially finishing your basement would be one of the best home improvements you could make. I know an appraiser who added an additional $10,000 in value to a family’s home for having one finished 150-sq. ft. room in their basement. For example, a room that could be used for anything from a family room to extra work-out space, a home office, or guest bedroom will appeal to buyers more than an unfinished basement that can only really be used for storage.
