As of right now, the Hunters Mill Wine Bar produces about 800 cases of wine every year, with 8 varieties available when you stop by for a tasting. But how did this winery come to be?
Hunters Mill Wine Bar History
When the Nolans bought their Loudoun County property in the late nineties, there were just a few wineries in the area. In fact, they've been in Virginia's iconic wine country before the existence of the Middleburg American Viticultural Area.
Suffering from a bit of Empty Nest Syndrome, Geri Nolan was determined to find something to keep herself busy. Being aware of her property's viticultural potential, she decided to embark on the journey of transforming it into a vineyard.
Barn Transformation
One of the first things she did was convert her country barn into her Tasting Room and she did a great job! It is a great representation of her Irish Roots, where her family loved to hunt and farm. In fact, it's safe to say that the tasting room is a small tribute to her past - not distinctly Irish but you can definitely see her hunting and equestrian roots in the design.
Once you get here, you'll likely find Geri and her sister working the bar - filling the tasting room with a lively atmosphere that makes it hard to leave. However, if you would prefer to enjoy your selections while getting some fresh air, simply step outside on their large deck or grab a seat by their nearby fire pit.
