A half mile boardwalk takes visitors on a wildlife adventure like none before. Frogs, beavers, and other aquatic life thrive in the wetlands created by freshwater from the Potomac River. Many species of plants and insects live within the park, especially within the wet marsh lands. Huntley Meadows Park is a popular place for bird watchers. There are over 200 different bird species living in the 1500+ acre park. Observation towers offer the best bird-watching views in all of Fairfax County.
Huntley Meadows Park also offers visitors a chance to hike along the 2 mile trail system, or walk on the hike and bike trails. Guests can rent the picnic area for the day, and enjoy spending time in the natural beauty of Virginia.The Norma Hoffman Visitor Center has classroom and auditorium space available for rent. Exhibits of things to find in the park are scattered throughout the visitor center. There are live animals to see and touch, gift shops to explore, and a snack area just waiting for hungry visitors.
