Located in Old Town, Alexandria, VA, Jones Point Park was completely revamped in 2012 and offers something for everyone, including plenty of space to play, historical landmarks, and the perfect spot for taking off on the Mount Vernon Trail. There are several picnic spots, human and dog water fountains, and even restrooms that tend to be very clean.

Jones Point Park includes two separate, yet well equipped playgrounds with swings, slides, seesaws, climbing structures, two basketball courts located under the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, and a number of first come-first serve basis. (As an added bonus, the playgrounds have a soft rubber service and are designed for different age groups.) In addition, there are two fishing piers along the Potomac River and a canoe launch, as well as biking paths and an interpretative hiking trail.
Jones Point Park also happens to be the site of the few remaining river lighthouses in the country (and the only one in Virginia), which was built in 1855. You can also see one of the original boundary stones that separated Washington DC from Virginia, while learning about the area’s unique history as a Word War I shipbuilding yard. This is easily a park where you could spend the entire day.
