Spanning 70 acres, Potomac Overlook Park is a heavily wooded hidden gem tucked away from the chaos of the city. The park offers several miles of hiking trails that offer access to the Potomac River and feature a wide range of terrains, yet are easy enough for the entire family to enjoy, as well as an interpretive garden and well shaded playground complete with slides, a climbing wall, and a tree fort. Directly beside the playground is a covered pavilion with picnic tables, a charcoal grill, and restrooms. (The pavilion can be rented for events.)

Features of Potomac Overlook Park

What sets Potomac Overlook Park apart from other parks is the Nature Center, which includes the Energerium, a set of interactive activities that showcase the connection between humans and nature, as well as natural history exhibits and live animals. If you’re heading to the Potomac Overlook Park to play tennis or basketball, be aware that there are no courts here. However, Marcey Road Park is right next door and has a basketball court and three tennis courts. During the summer months, Potomac Overlook Park is home to a summer concert series. Concerts are held every other Saturday and feature a wide array of musical genres.
