The Washing DC Capitol Building, located in the heart of Washington, DC, is where the Senate and the House of Representatives meet. This one building is a modern working office building, and a monument to the United States. It represents democracy to people around the world.
Washington DC Capitol Building Visits
Visitors are always welcomed to the Washington DC Capitol Building. The Capitol Visitor Center is opened every day except Sunday. Hours are 8:30 am until 4:30 pm. Tours are offered up until 3:20. There are no entrance fees, and all tours are also free. Guests have the option to watch congress if they are in session. There are numerous places to eat and shop in this massive building. Visitors always leave the Washington DC Capitol Building with a smile on their face, knowledge in their head, and something in their hands.
Visitors should plan on at least a 90 minute stay at the Capitol Visitor Center. All tours are conducted in English, but foreign visitors can ask for a listening device in their language. This allows them to understand certain films and exhibits. They can also ask for brochures in their language. These are very helpful guides for non-English speaking guests.
A visit to the Washington DC Capitol should be on every visitor's list of "things to see and do in Washington, DC." Although the Capitol Building has been under construction for a few years, the construction is set to be completed before the 2017 presidential inauguration.
