Parkfairfax - This is a popular community in a very convenient location where you can buy a 2 bedroom property for the very low $300,000s. They have plenty of parking, easy access to green space, and a pool as well. These used to be military housing back when they were originally built.
Fairlington Villages - These are in a great location near the Alexandria City/Arlington border. You can find very large 2 bed/2 bath townhome-style condos here under $400,000. This community also used to be military housing around the World War II era.
Parkside at Alexandria - Here you can find spacious 1 bedrooms around the mid $200,000s and 2 bedrooms in the low $300,000s. Condo fees aren't too bad, and there is a swimming pool and parking.

Cameron Station - This is a very nice, newer community with lots of great amenities. You can find fairly spacious 2 bed/2bath units under $400,000 and 1 bed/1baths under $300,000.

Midtown Alexandria - This is actually not farther out, but is just barely outside the Alexandria City/Alexandria border. It's a very nice newer high rise condo community that is within walking distance of the Huntington Street Metro. Lots of fun amenities.
