When guests arrive at The Oakton, residents have many choices of places to take them: to start off, there is The Freeman House, built as a general store, later used as a hospital during the Civil War. This building is now both a museum filled with period furniture, photos and artifacts from bygone days, and an old-fashioned general store. Visitors who enjoy the Civil War era will enjoy the artifacts and pictures in the museum.
There is just so much to do and see in Fairfax County Virginia. Residents of The Oakton should spend time planning an itinerary before heading out to play tourist with their guests. There are countless museums,a botanical garden, music venues, monuments and malls to visit. Hopefully, while guests are visiting, there will be a performance at the majestic Filene Center at Wolf Trap.
